Winter Storm Closes DFW Airport

dfw weather, dfw, lambert airport, american airlines flight status, dallas weatherToday's winter storm has closed Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and left thousands of people without electrical energy throughout freezing, icy conditions. but have update The Associated Press reports "DFW Airport spokesman David Magana says 1 runway has reopened after the temporary closure .. and crews are operating to clear the ice from others."

AP adds that "the airport, the eighth largest in the world...Earlier Tuesday, hundreds of incoming flights were canceled because of the huge winter storm sweeping a lot of the nation."

Delays are also being reported at Houston Bush-Intercontinental Airport and Houston Hobby.

Storms are causing about an hour delay at Hobby and about a half hour delay at IAH, according towards the FAA.

Airport spokesman David Magana says crews worked to treat runways that glazed over with ice.

DFW will be the primary hub for American Airlines. Thousands of individuals are without electricity throughout freezing, icy conditions.

Utility provider, Oncor reported more than 20,000 clients Tuesday lost electrical energy in Texas, with almost half of the outages in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
