Click to Enlarge Paul Haggis, Oscar-winning writer and director, is speaking out against the Church of Scientology.Haggis was a member of the Church of Scientology for over three decades, but left in October 2009. According to The Guardian, he decided to leave after a San Diego branch of the church supported the banning of gay marriage, specifically California's highly controversial Proposition 8."The church's refusal to denounce the actions of these bigots, hypocrites and homophobes is cowardly," he had written in a letter to Scientology spokesman Tommy Davis.Haggis is known for is his work in the films Million Dollar Baby and Crash.
Now, Haggis is coming out to further explain his grievances with the church.The filmmaker said to the New Yorker,
